He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Grace Lucky; his wife Joan Jackson Lucky; his children, David William Lucky (Kim) of Ridgewood, NJ and Karen Joan Lucky of Fair Haven, NJ.; and his grandchildren, Megan, Shannon, Peter, Grace and Lily.

He was the 1987 recipient of the prestigious Marconi International Fellowship for his contributions to data communications.
