He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas H. Whelan and Rosemarie K. Whelan (Shinkowski); and his brother Thomas Whelan. He is survived by: his children, Haley Ciaravino (Kyle) and William Whelan; and his siblings, Linda Bell (Joseph), Kathleen Coppersmith (Kevin), Diane Amaral (Michael) and Robert Whelan (Donna). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
