He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Merz and Barbara Merz; and his parents-in-law, Armando and Frieda Palmieri. He is survived by: his significant other Idina Palmieri; his children, Richard C. Merz, Jr. (Beth) and Kaitlyn Marie Super (Gary); his sister Sherri D'Alessandro (Carmine); his grandchildren, Christopher, Haley, Austin, Savannah and Logan; his uncle Bud Howard Seeley; his siblings-in-law, Canice Lindsay (Michael), Armando Palmieri (Catherine) and Anthony Palmieri; and his nieces and nephews, Jimmy, Gabrielle, Chris, Jenna, Stephanie, Allyson, Natalie, Sam, Dillon, Adriana, Rex, Nick, Spencer, Henry, Cleo and Oliver. He is also survived by many cousins and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick's memory to the Lustgarten Foundation , an organization focused on fighting pancreatic cancer, a long battle that Rick fought with courage and grace, would be greatly appreciated by his family.
