He was predeceased by: his parents, Voldemars Capants and Irma Capants; and his stepbrothers, John and Andrew Silinsh. He is survived by: his wife Aija Livins; his children, John M. Capants, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Karen Harmon (Carey); and his grandchildren, Jane, Henry, Adrienne Capants, Jack and Ian Harmon.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated by his family.
