He was predeceased by: his parents, Ethel O'Rourke and Harry O'Rourke; and his son Shane. He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his children, Shannon (Matt), Ryan (Kate) and Brendan (Catherine); and his brothers, Jim and Gerry (Rosarie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 07481). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Elizabeth RC Church (700 Wyckoff Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 07481).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (http://www.michaeljfox.org) or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of Gene O'Rourke's memory.

“To Gene's family and friends, please accept my deepest sympathy. My memories of Gene are from many years ago. He lived on my street in Fort Lee and was good friends with my brother. They are both now in heaven acting like the teens they once were. I remember a young man who was always kind to me as I walked by him working on a car. I am grateful we were able to have lunch together a few years ago in Fort Lee. RIP to one of the very good men that I have had the pleasure of knowing”
