She was predeceased by: her husband Wise Gilland; and her stepdaughter Carolyn Van Dyke. She is survived by: her stepgrandchildren, Lorie Forshay, James Van Dyke, Jessica Dyke, Tyler Van Dyke, Alexa Forshay and Amanda Forshay; and her nieces and nephews, Johanna Kacmar, Barbara Chickey, Robert Sinke, Patricia Bratton, David Knapp and Bradley Knapp.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Caryl's memory to the Amrican Lung Association would be greatly appreciated by her family.
