She was predeceased by: her parents, Tony Bethea and Nina Norfleet Bethea; and her husband Albert Grimes, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Valerie Jean Grimes, Albert Lee Grimes, Jr. (Stephanie) and Victoria Louise Grimes (Alvin); and her siblings, Ann Lucas, Angela Lucas, Patricia Reid, Rachel Brown, Donald Lucas and Phillip Lucas. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
