He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Powell and Louisa Powell. He is survived by: his sisters, Jean and Caroline; his friend Elaine; his wife Elaine; his sons, Todd and Gregg (Darlene); and his grandchildren, Jacob and Claire. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Pitman (10 Wildwood Ave, Pitman, NJ 08071). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.

Those desiring may make a contribution in Mel's name to the First Presbyterian Church in Pitman, 10 Wildwood Avenue, Pitman, NJ.

“I met Mr Powell when I was a student at Paulsboro High School. I became involved with the Audio Visual Club in which Mr Powell was the coordinator. He was awesome to work with as he provided the leadership we all needed. From running projectors, to providing sound and lighting to live events and even running reel to reel video recording services before VCR was available, he was there to show us the ropes, and made it fun. Thank you Mr Powell for making my school days fun and and God Bless.”
