She was predeceased by: her husband Samuel Chew Powell, Jr.; and her grandson Matt Brittney. She is survived by: her children, Mary Lou Pierce, Eileen Salmon, Sam (Kim) and Doug (Melaney); her grandchildren, Nannie, Ruthie, Richie, Rachael, Becky Pierce, Dick (Jen), Neil Salmon (Erica), Beth Perseghetti (Tim), Grayson and Jackson Powell; and her great grandchildren, Luke, Piper, Holly, Grace, Charlotte Salmon, Miles, Crosby Perseghetti, Tanner Wible and Declan Powell-Edmunds. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
