He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry DeMott and Ida Cobb Young; his wife Alice Shafer Young; his siblings, Julia Harris, Martha Apple and Charles Young; and his great great grandchild Cadence W. Riley.
He is survived by: his children, Richard F. Young, Jr. (Mayanna) of Port Clinton, OH, Carol Y. Reese (George) of Salem, NJ and Henry D. Young (Kathy) of Wilmington, DE; and his grandchildren, Jordan Young, William Young (Jennifer), Jonathan Reese, Jason Reese (Shannon) and Jessica Henry (Jade). He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
