Max G. Jenkins Obituary
Max G. Jenkins, age 85, of Pennsville passed peacefully on Sunday, March 3, surrounded by his loving family. Max was raised in North Carolina, the son of the late Crawford and Lena (Messer) Jenkins. Max is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Lorraine, and his granddaughter Carrie Newkirk Watson (Chris), step sons Harry Wariwanchik (Tammy) and Michael Wariwanchik (Stacey) and great grandchildren Evan, Gabriel and Avery Watson, and grandchildren Alyse, Emma, Reagan, Connor and Mason Wariwanchik. One of 9 children, he is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth Adelman, Genevieve Grogan and Nellie Sue Aldredge (Donald), and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a stepson Robert Newkirk, his son Joseph Jenkins, a sister, Selma Smith and brothers a twin who died at birth, DC, Bill and Nick Jenkins. Max was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many peaceful days out on the waters of the Delaware Bay and beyond. He also had the greenest thumb around and gardening and flowers were his passion. He loved sharing his vegetables and plants with neighbors, friends and family. Max was a loving grandfather and enjoyed many family vacations and following grandchildren to sporting events, school functions, and teaching them gardening tips. Max enlisted in the Marine Corp after high school and after serving his term, followed relatives to New Jersey in search of a job. He retired from Dupont Chambers Works with 30 years of service as a shift supervisor in Monastral Aeromatics.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 8:30 PM at the Laughrey Funeral Home in Pennsville, where friends may call from 7:00 to 8:30 prior to the service, followed by a private burial on Saturday.
