He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Durant; his siblings, Peter, Robert, Norman Durant, Louise DiVietro and Rita Bennett; and his mother Mary Durant, Sr..

He is survived by: his wife Helen Durant; his children, Joseph Durant, Sr. (Patricia), Donna Mancini and Debra Hannigan (James); and his sister Mae Carson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
