He was predeceased by: his parents, George A. Bleistine and Florence M. Bleistine; his wife Frances Pomponi Bleistine; and his siblings, Cyril, George, Florence and Mary.

He is survived by: his daughters, Sandra Carlaw (Robert Jr.) and Elena Cuthbertson (Michael); his grandson Robert Carlaw III; his great grandchildren, Shaun, Wesley and Owen; and his sister-in-law Helen Giova (Angelo). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Joseph's memory to a charity of one's choice.
