He was predeceased by: his parents, John Stemler Sr. On and Agnes "May" Stemler (Collinson); and his brother Bruce. He is survived by: his close friends, William "Bucky" Hall, Ed "Tarpot" Ervin Sr., George "Moog" Kessler, Michael "Micky" Rue, William "Sireen" Bennett, Rudy Socey and Ed "Wham" Ervin Jr.; his wife Diane Stemler (Lansing); his children, John Stemler III (Amy) and Kelly (Daniel Ottobre); his stepsons, Benjamin Gering (Jennifer) and Matthew Gering (Angela); his grandchildren, Ashton, Devon Stemler, Tyler, Ryan Ottobre, Liam, Alana Gering, Jason, Ryder and Gerise Gering; his cousin Patricia Morterud; and his nieces and nephews, Jessica Zausch Southwood, Christina Zausch, Cody and Bruce Stemler Jr..
