He was predeceased by: his parents, Alois Maier and Theresa Leins Maier; and his sister Mary Wunderle. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Giori Maier; his siblings-in-law, Arthur and Barbara Giori; his children, Jacqueline Obinger (Jerry Petersack), John Maier, Jr., Jeffrey Maier (Patricia Maier) and Joanne McGann (Thomas McGann); and his grandchildren, Brian Obinger, Courtney Cooper (Michael), Brent Obinger (Shelley), Johnny Maier III, Tommy McGann, Kyle McGann (Jennifer), Ryan McGann, Lindsay Maier, Jeffrey Maier and Caitlyn Maier. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
