He is survived by: his wife Jane S. Vogel; his daughters, Rebecca Vogel and Johanna Vogel; and his grandchildren, Samuel Barr (Alexandra Drimal), Madeline Jane Vogel and Malcolm Thomas Hillman. He is also survived by his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to two charities that meant a lot to him: Doctors without Borders or Unchained at Last.
