He is survived by: his wife Edith Toni (Volpe); his children, Joseph, Jr. (Maria), Michael (Laura) and Amanda; his grandchildren, Joseph III, Vincent, Andrew, Sarah and Liliana; and his brother James R. Smolarski (Angela).
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the ARC of Gloucester's Camp Sun 'N Fun.
