He was predeceased by: his wife Lucy. He is survived by: his children, John III (Sherry), Sherrie Cornell-Mumpower (Jeff) and David (Sherri); and his sister Wilma Williams. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in his memory be made to the Pemberton Township or Jacobstown fire companies.
