He was predeceased by: his parents, Eva Mary Edwards Hayer and Leroy Hayer; his son Dwayne Oliver; and his siblings, Catherine Mosley, Gloria Tyler, Eva Mary Grier, Leroy (Hayer) and Horace Edward Hayer.

He is survived by: his children, Shanelle Taliaferro, Lamar Hayer, Dupree Belton, Wayne Hayer, Jr., Keith Hayer, Brian Oliver, Stave Hayer, Yvonne Hayer and Muhammad Hayer; his siblings, Alice Floyd, Terry Bannister, Talmadge Hayer and Joseph Hayer; and his friend James Coley. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
