He was predeceased by: his parents, Vennie Gilbert and Elmer Gilbert; his brother Elmer Gilbert Jr.; his grandparents, Joseph, Carrie Gilbert, Abraham and Eva Brown; his aunts, Sophia Mae Rich, Rose Marie Brown and Sandra Croonquist; his uncle Abraham Brown Jr.; and his brother-in-law Melvin Hansford.
He is survived by: his children, Darla M. Ward (Warren) and Vincent Gilbert Jr.; his grandchildren, Brionna Lewis and Savannah Ward; his sisters, Deborah Gilbert-Johnson (Reuben) and Karen Gilbert-Hansford; his aunts, Barbara Marsan, Ann Lois Chatman and Mary Ann Brown (Sherry); his niece Fanni Johnson; his great-nieces, Kristen Thomas, Monique Chatman, Tiffany Russel and Jade Johnson; his cousins, Sunda Zafrin (Mark), Rashe Rich, Rasche Brown, Wakiem Brown, Kaliem Brown, Rahmann Brown, Dr. Ena Marsan and Eve Marsan; and the mother of his children Debra Lewis. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
