We are sad to announce that on October 9, 2024, at the age of 100, Mary Ancrum in Paterson, New Jersey, born in Camden, South Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Mary departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Mary. Though Mary may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Minnie McCartha and James McCartha; her siblings, James McCartha Jr., Thomas McCartha and Gertrude McCartha Franklin; and her children, Eddie Ancrum, Willie Ancrum Sr., John Freeman and Minnie McCartha Hurst.
She is survived by: her son Freddie Freeman of New Jersey. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
