He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Glen Gowin and Florence Gowin (Ciorciari); his siblings, Leo Gowin, Lorraine Gowin and Philip Gowin; and his brother-in-law P. Arthur Leary.

He is survived by: the mother of his children Rejenia Hamilton; his children, Reginald J. Gowin and Christina Gowin; his grandchildren, Aaliyah, Alivia, Amiya and Alana Gowin; and his siblings, Dorothy Kerr (Mark) of Edison, NJ and Michael Saint Joseph of Atlantic City, NJ. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
