Bernice C. Slade Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Bernice C. Slade (Paterson, New Jersey), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 26, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarabell Elizabeth Holloway (Hill) and Spurgeon William Holloway; her husband Walter Harvey Slade; her siblings, Staley Holloway (Marlene), David Holloway, Edward Holloway, Clarence Holloway and Joyce Belisle; her siblings-in-law, Whitfield Slade, Allen Slade, Steven Slade, Mamie Harris, Dorothy Daniel, Juanita Boylan, Olivia McGill, Deborah Slade and Elayne Slade; and her godsons, Barry Taylor and Maurice Robinson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Felecia L. Slade, Cheryl A and Yvette M. Smith; her sons-in-law, Byron M. Williamson and Douglas A. Smith Jr.; her grandchildren, Jaraad Williamson, Jabari Williamson (West), Amadea Bekeo-Tabiri, Jendaya Williamson and Jehlan Williamson; her sister JoAnn Warner (Arthur); her siblings-in-law, Beatrice Smith and Cecil Austin; her niece Monifa Moore; her nephew Jesse Boylan; and her great-niece Rev. Pamela Powell. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and special friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church - Paterson (575 E 18th St, Paterson, NJ 07501). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the George Washington Memorial Park (234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652).
Bernice was a woman of faith, wisdom, and resilience, whose life was marked by her spiritual gifts, dedication to family, and significant contributions to her community and church.
