He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Patterson and Cora Peoples Patterson; his former wife Chrystal Mae Patterson; his siblings, Lessie Clyburn, Wille Alice Patterson Hall, Juanita Brown, Isaac Patterson and James Mitchell Patterson; and his children, Maxine Ward, Veronica Lyde, Charlie Mitchell and Isaac Patterson.

He is survived by: his wife Hazel Patterson; his children, Velinda Thomas of Paterson, NJ, Marilyn McCutchen of Paterson, NJ, Rebecca Patterson of Paterson, NJ, Evangelist Shirley Patterson of Paterson, NJ, Pastor Violet Mack and Harry Mitchell (Mark Lyde) of Prospect, NJ; his stepsons, Ishmael Sumter and Thomas Earl Harris; and his siblings, Lou Ester Turner, Annie Cyrus, Helen Cooper and John Patterson (Honey Patterson). He is also survived by thirty-five grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren, thirty-five great great grandchildren.
