He was predeceased by: his parents, Curtis "Wee" and Missie Lou McDowell. He is survived by: his grandson Theodore, Jr.; his daughters, Deaconess, Arndra Lisa Hill McDowell and Rev. Pamela Denise Sallie; his grandchildren, Dr. Tamarra Denise McDowell of Hackensack, Theodore "Teddy" Hill, Jr. and Nala Sanella Sallie; his sisters, Mary Ware of Atlanta, Betty Simmons of Atlanta and Mary Lue Hansford; his nieces and nephews, Java, Janet, Donna, LaRue, Alvia, Leon and Alfonso; his godsons, Terrence and Troy; and his friend Roosevelt. He is also survived by cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pastor McDowell began to sing very early in his childhood and thereby constituted his early foundation into the church realm.
