He was predeceased by: his parents, Amelia Gentry and Ralph Gentry; and his siblings, Leo, Albert Gentry and Gertrude Gentry.
He is survived by: his daughter Valerie Gentry of Maryland; his grandchildren, Ranija Gentry-Barbour, Diontre Tugman, Davon Milner and Dontrell Milner; his siblings, Ralph, Nathaniel, Wilbert Gentry, Vernette Murphey and Beverly Hinson; and his friends, William Kearney and Sonny McCoy. He is also survived by four great grandsons and three great granddaughters.
