With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rebecca I. Saunders (Passaic, New Jersey), born in Prospect, Virginia, who passed away on February 11, 2020 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Pattie Wardell and Alfonso Wardell, Sr.; her husband James Saunders; and her siblings, Alfonso Wardell, Jr., Leroy Wardell, Otis Wardell, Virginia Curtis and Mabel Womack.
She is survived by: her son James Matthews; her grandchildren, James Holmes, Jr., Timothy Holmes, Jr., Alfonso Lewis, Rebecca Holmes, Shyron Wade, Mariah Matthews and Marquis Matthews; her siblings, Nellie Danner, Patricia Gaddy, Lucille Jones and Raymond Wardell; her siblings-in-law, Rev John Gaddy and Corrine Wardell; and her close friend Dorothy Oliver. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
