He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Vargas and Adela Vargas; his son Jason Ralph Vargas; his brothers, Esteban and Eladio Vargas; and his mother-in-law Carmela Mauro.
He is survived by: his wife Rochelle Vargas; his children, Cristina (Patrick Chan), Dr. Carlos Jason Vargas (Hailey), Sonia Iris Vargas, Margie Vargas Lorenzo and Yolanda Vargas Ortiz; his grandchildren, Natalie, Victoria, Jason, Marialis, Jose, Omar, Melvin and Omayra; and his siblings, Josefa Vargas and Miguel Vargas. He is also survived by many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
