He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul William Backlund (Bill) of Buffalo, NY and Ruth Eleanor Crowley of Buffalo, NY; and his stepfather Steve Demos (Patty). He is survived by: his cousin Jimmy Meyer; his former wife Patricia DeMartino; his stepchild Joleen; his daughter Glenda Michelle; his siblings, Sherry (Frank Cornell) and Patrick; his daughter Emily Backlund; his granddaughter Annabella Ybarra; his nephew Justin Backlund of LaQuinta, CA.; and his cousins, Robert, Russ, Joey Crowley, Judy Meyer (Jimmy), Sharon Ries (Wes), Annette King (Craig), Brigitte Faulkner and Cornell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
