Joseph Higgins Jr. Obituary
Joseph F. Higgins, Jr., age 75, of Palmyra, NJ, passed peacefully at his home on November 5, 2023.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Palmyra where he was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Riverton, attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Palmyra High School, Class of 1966. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served from 1970 to 1976. Joe work for many years for Abrasive Warehouse in Palmyra before establishing his own Carpentry business in 1987. Joe was well known in the area for his craftsmanship and completion of many projects through his retirement in 2012.
Joe and his wife Bonnie especially enjoyed spending time at their home in Sudbury, Vermont where they had many friends and recently enjoyed an extended stay. Joe enjoyed many hobbies including hunting when he was younger, fishing, his Boston Whaler, and his Corvette, but most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Joseph F. Higgins, Sr., Joe is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 54-years, Bonnie Higgins (nee Sharp); their children, Joey Higgins and his wife Nicole, Karen DeCesare and her husband Michael, Jr., and Kim Censurato and her husband Mike; by his grandchildren, Connor, David, TJ & Caelan Higgins, Ryan, Julianna & Nicholas DeCesare, and Alex & Addie Censurato. Joe is also survived by his sisters, Frances Frascella (Bob), and Patricia Hartman (late husband Bob); his in-laws, Ronnie Sharp (Jean), Sharon Fish (late husband Danny), and Nancy Bradwell (Richard); and by his many nieces & nephews and their families, as well as by his close friends Larry Bradshaw and John Miller.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad St., Riverton, NJ 08077 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 4th St. & Linden Ave., Riverton, NJ 08077. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's memory to a charity of your choosing would be appreciated.
