She was predeceased by: her parents, John Clark and Elizabeth Bessie Hawthorne; her daughter Brenda Gary; and her siblings, Lawrence, Augustus, John, James Clark and Effie Lee Marshall.

She is survived by: her husband John Thompson; her daughter Sheila Mayo; her grandchildren, Cherice Gary, Victor, Antonio (Nicole), James (Ana), David Gary, Curtis Mayo and Maurice Green; her great grandchildren, Antonio Jr. Gary, Alisha, Nikko Gary, Sajada Johnson, Diva Johnson (Deja), Zachary Mayo, Nahmir Battle, Makayla, Starr Green, Zachorayah Spates-Mayo, Am'Rae Jones and Elijah Green; her great great grandchildren, Deandre, Leleia, Nia Gary and Shareef Brown-Johnson Jr.; and her nephews, Rodney, Augustus, Jr., Wilena Clark and Sean Clark Tiffany Clark. She is also survived by her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
