He was predeceased by: his parents, James McGovern and Helen McGovern (Dolan); his brother Thomas; his aunts, Virginia Maria McGovern and Mary Margaret McGovern; his siblings-in-law, Joann McGovern and Ralph Stalker; and his parents-in-law, Conrad and Evelyn Gerold.
He is survived by: his wife Linda McGovern (Gerold); his siblings, James, Michael McGovern (MaryLou), Helen McGovern Piotrowski (Joseph) and Margaret O'Connor (Michael); and his sisters-in-law, Yvonne McGovern and Elizabeth Stalker. He is also survived by his 19 nieces & nephews as well as many loving grand nieces & nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Old Bridge Funeral Home (2350 County Rd 516, Old Bridge, NJ 08857). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Most Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church (133 Amboy Rd, Matawan, NJ 07747). A graveside service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the St Gabriel's Cemetery & Chapel (549 County Rte 520, Marlboro, NJ 07746).
