He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Campbell Dougherty. He is survived by: his children, Barbara Petinella, Joanne Dougherty, John Dougherty, Marian Gulbrandsen, James Dougherty Young (Keith Dougherty Young), Suzanne Gallup (Joseph Gallup), Patricia Dougherty, Deborah Dougherty, Janet Dougherty, Joseph Dougherty (Kelly Dougherty), Samantha Corujo and Jennifer Harmon (Greg Harmon). He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
His contribution to the industry's evolution has resulted in multiple patents, including H-pile point designs and the TAPERTUBE® pile. DFP Foundation Products, LLC manufactures the TAPERTUBE® pile and driving points for pipe and H-piles and splicing devices for pipe and H-pile.
