He is survived by: his parents, Stephen Mitchum and Terese Mitchum (Alvarez); his siblings, Catrina (Andrew), Stephen, Jr., Tessy (Dave), Lucas, Vincent and Lillia; and his nieces, Gwen and Kiri. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be setting up a scholarship in Alex's name to continue his love of music and the arts.
