He was predeceased by: his siblings, William P. Hartwig, Thomas R. and Shirley Terwilliger. He is survived by: his brothers, Raymond Hartwig (Lynn) of Totowa and Kenneth Hartwig of North Brunswick; his siblings-in-law, Bruce and Gretel; and his nieces and nephews, Shannon Hartwig, Jacqueline Spitz and Paul Stevens.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Spina Bifida Association or to US Olympian and Paralympians.
