It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mario Mendes Leitao of Newark, New Jersey, who passed away on March 2, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Maria Alice Ferreira; his children, Mario Mendes Leitao, Jr. (Toula), Edna Carreira (Miguel) and Celia Fernandes (Pedro); his siblings, Silvina Mendes of Oliveira, Antonio Leitao, Maria, Conceicao Neto and Graciete Almeida; and his grandchildren, Marco, Alexa, Zoe, Sara, Miguel, Isabella and Nicholas.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 8:30 AM at the Buyus Funeral Home (426 Lafayette St, Newark, NJ 07105). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Our Lady of Fatima Church (82 Congress St, Newark, NJ 07105).
