He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Maria Alice Ferreira; his children, Mario Mendes Leitao, Jr. (Toula), Edna Carreira (Miguel) and Celia Fernandes (Pedro); his siblings, Silvina Mendes of Oliveira, Antonio Leitao, Maria, Conceicao Neto and Graciete Almeida; and his grandchildren, Marco, Alexa, Zoe, Sara, Miguel, Isabella and Nicholas.
