He is survived by: his wife Christine Hammerschmidt; his children, Alan Hammerschmidt (Mary) and Karen Edge (Laird); his grandchildren, Sam, Robin and Maxwell; and his siblings, Freddy Piff (Betty), Christine Griffin (Walt) and Janet Lewis (Ted). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
