He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James P. Brooks Sr. and Dorothy Brown-Brooks; his wife Jacqueline Ricketts; his children, James (Tara), Alicia Elizabeth and Kimberly Dawn (Robert); his siblings, Gladsby Brown and Donald Brooks; and his grandchildren, Roy Reid IV, Jameel Hall, Brianna Hall, James Paul Brooks IV and Qorey Israel Brooks. He was also cherished by five great-grandchildren.
