He was predeceased by: his grandfather Charles Mills Burkett. He is survived by: his mother Chrisa A. Burkett; his brother Joshua M. Burkett; his grandmother Maryann Waladkewics Burkett; his aunt Sharon Burkett (Doug Yates); and his cousins, Anna, John and Lydia Yates.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Matthew's name to Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children, which provides summer camp experiences for visually impaired children and which benefited Matthew greatly in his younger years.
