John Richard Austino Sr. Obituary
John Richard Austino Sr, 77 of Mullica Hill, New Jersey passed away on July 5, 2024, peacefully at Cooper Hospital-Camden NJ, under the care of Hospice with the support of his family and friends.
John was born on January 11, 1947 at Newcomb Hospital in Vineland, New Jersey to the late Adolph and Angelina "Angie" Austino. He spent his early years of his life in Vineland and Rosenhayn, New Jersey and St. Petersburg, Florida. He Retired 2014, at which time he returned to St. Petersburg / Fort Myers Florida. In 2022 he came back to New Jersey and resided in Mullica Hill, New Jersey.
John was a retired Iron Worker Local #489, Scranton Pennsylvania and a retired Teamster Local #676, Collingswood New Jersey. He was the Owner of Austino's Karate and Boxing Gym of Williamstown, Collingswood and Gloucester City New Jersey. During his retirement he worked at Home Depot in St. Petersburg, Florida. He also taught karate at the YMCA in St. Petersburg, Florida to the under privileged children of the community. John enjoyed teaching martial arts and was a 8th Degree Master in the art of USA GoJu-Ryu. He was a three-time martial arts champion and sparring partner for middleweight Boxer, Jammin Johnny Miller. He was a boxing manager and corner man for several professional boxers. John traveled around the world to Ireland, Mexico, Egypt, Australia and Canada where he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, scuba diving, flying private aircrafts and sightseeing. He was a Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.
He was a member of the Holy Nativity Lutheran Church, Wenonah, New Jersey and enjoyed his spiritual time with his Pastor Andy Gordon.
John was married in 1965 to his first wife, Joyce Ann Austino (Cortes) and they had two sons. John later married Peg E. Ferry in 1989 and the two were married for 11 years.
John is survived by his two children; John R. Austino Jr., wife Faith; Jeffery A. Austino (Kerry), Brother Robert Austino, wife Kathleen; Grandchildren; Stephanie Austino (Zach) Justin Austino (Katie) and Dominic Austino. Great-grandchild; Colson Inman.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Family and friends may gather from 6:00-8:00pm.
