It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Deacon Cyril J. Massar of Mountainside, New Jersey, born in Tresckow, Pennsylvania, who passed away on August 25, 2023, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Katheleen. He is survived by: his children, Peggy Anderson (Dave), Jeanne Abrahamsen, Laurie Ford (Steve), Michelle Brust (John) and Rob Massar; his grandchildren, Rich Abrahamsen, Alex Massar, Nick Massar (Zia), Danielle Ford (George), Brendon Ford (Alyssa), Kate Brust (Alex) and Kelly Brust (Kevin); his great grandchild Aleena Abrahamsen; and his close friend Betty Lynch.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mountainside VFW, P.O. Box 1163, Mountainside, N.J. 07092.

“I am so sorry for the loss of your father. My parents always enjoyed Cy's company and treasured his friendship. The last time my mom, Agnes was with me in New Jersey, I had all her friends. I believe it was the old Corsio Group (excuse the spelling) and your Dad was here. Her face lit up when she saw him, as did all the other ladies. He did bring so much joy to that group.
