John Singer wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Joanne, With the utmost of sadness I write this to you, Scott and Paige. I do know of my cousins time of health troubles for some time now. And while he no longer suffers, the suffering of life and death rests a heavy burden of love and sorrow on you shoulders, and your wonderful kids as well. I tear as I remember a cousin I loved and admired for the man he was, and father that he became, and children from you and he. I am so very sad for you and your kids. Hold tight. Love John Singer”

Jim Singer wrote a sympathy message

“George and I were always close as first cousins, from the time we were kids. On our last talk two weeks ago he told me he was doing OK. This photo was the day of his commissioning in May 1967 with his dad, Lt. Col. George Baldwin Sr. George Jr. is wearing his dad's uniform, recut for the ceremony. We enjoyed sharing stories, maps and photos of our time in Vietnam. He served in the Con Thien/DMZ area where I did, 2 years later. I'll really miss my "cuz", as he liked to call me!”
