He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Matthews and Joan M. Dahl (Dyson); his stepparents, Floriene Matthews and Stanley T. Dahl; and his stepbrother Thomas Dahl.
He is survived by: his wife Susan (Pesansky); his children, Anna Shaffner (Chris) of Bound Brook, Evan Matthews of Hoboken and Emma Matthews (Tanner Blee) of Santa Barbara, California; his siblings, Robert Matthews of Nashville, Tennessee and Cynthia Ohrberg (Roy) of Quakertown, Pennsylvania; his granddaughters, Bonnie and Diana; his niece Pamela Braley; his nephews, Timothy Bungo and Carl Ohrberg; and his stepbrothers, Jeffrey and Stanley Dahl. He is also survived by six great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Pinkel Funeral Home, Inc. (31 Bank St, Sussex, NJ 07461). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Pinkel Funeral Home (31 Bank St, Sussex, NJ 07461).
