She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Cecilia O'Brien and Christopher O'Brien; her sisters, Christine and Sarah O'Brien; her niece Cynthia McGuinness (Glen McGuinness); her great-niece Cecilia McGuinness; and her great-nephews, Garrett McGuinness and Stephen Layton.
In the midst of her academic career, she committed her life to her faith as she prepared to become a nun with the Sisters of Charity of Convent Station.
