He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Russell (Jack Speller) and Edmund Russell Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Joan (Donnelly); his daughters, Kimberly Sloane (Jeffrey), Kathleen Ancona (Peter), Nancy Diamond (Paul) and Mary Lynn Fetrow (John); his grandchildren, David Sloane, Katelyn Sloane, Sara Ancona, Emily Bowman (Austin), Courtney Vitanza (Michael), Jessica Fetrow and Emma Fetrow; and his great grandchild Dean Vitanza. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
