He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Merlo Sr.. He is survived by: his pets, Harry and Nero; his mother Leonarda Caravano Merlo; his wife Catherine Colorafi Merlo; his children, Joseph Merlo III, Nicole Conte (Christopher), Alexia Merlo (Jon), Danielle Merlo and Bertram Perelman; and his siblings, Carmella Merlo, Michael Merlo (Lois), Anthony Merlo, Philip Merlo (Donna) and Phyllis Patti (Carmelo). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
