He was predeceased by: his father James McCarthy; his wife Alice Dougherty; and his sibling Shirley Wren (Thomas). He is survived by: his children, Dennis McCarthy (Linda), Kathy Trachtenberg (Steve), Jim McCarthy (Joyce), Mary Stefano (Jim) and Aileen Cawley (Tucker); his grandchildren, Jessica, Alyssa, Ryan, Laura, Julie, Brianna, Kristin, Rachel, Brigid, Katie, Finn and Claire; and his great grandchildren, Peyton, Avery, Liam, Josie, Nora, Sofia, Sage, Molly, Noah and Lainey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
