He was predeceased by: his wife Julie Hegelein; and his brother James Hegelein. He is survived by: his children, Lisa Lang (Erik) and Richard Hegelein; his stepdaughter Bridget McGuinn (David); his grandsons, Ethan and Zack Lang; and his stepgrandchildren, Jacob, Ava, Isaac and Jonas Szepessy.
