He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dr. Herbert C. Purnell and Anne Purnell (Hascup) of Saddlebrook, NJ.; his wife Sandra Purnell (Loux); his sons, Robert Schorn (Martha) and Timothy John (Alexandra); and his grandchildren, Troy, Krista, Nixon, Chase, Nolan, Leyla and Adrianna.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to The Chapel or the Dr. Robert E Purnell scholarship fund for a graduating Montville High School student (https://gofund.me).
