He was predeceased by: his wife Kathryn N. Obal; and his siblings, Richard G. Obal (Diana) and Christine Geene (Matthew). He is survived by: his children, Walter J. Obal (Louise) of Plainsboro, Thomas W. Obal of Monroe Twp and Debra Bertone (Kevin) of Groveville; his grandchildren, Jason Bertone of Denver, CO and Juliann Bertone (Sam Hitchcock) of Taos, NM; his brother Joseph Obal (Joan) of Sayreville; his extended family, Karen, Guy, Mark, Carol, Susan, Maryanne and Tim; and his nieces and nephews, Walter, Matt, Kathy, Patti, Mark, Jimmy, Robert, John, Tim Keenan, Anthony, Kenneth, Garrett and Brandon. He is also survived by friends and neighbors.
